Why it matters

Dr Satish’s warts leaflet explains that warts are caused by a DNA virus called the human papillomavirus, or HPV. All cervical cancers in women are caused by HPV, which also causes genital warts in both sexes. This does not mean that everyone who is infected will develop cervical cancer.

The vaccines

Vaccination against HPV is available. Which vaccine is used, who it is recommended for, and how and when the doses are given have all changed over the years, so your doctor will advise you on what is currently recommended.

Before you book

The leaflet this page is drawn from is patient information about HPV rather than an offer of the service. Please ask the clinic whether HPV vaccination is administered here.
